Of course he’s not reading anything at all anymore. And just so you know how skewed my reading is, I found that Newsweek article via a blog at the Poetry Foundation.

Thanks for the tip Mike. The general response to the article has been typical – a sort of dismissive snarkiness – illustrating the very reasons poetry has failed to inspire the general public. The figures are real, but poets snootily dismisses Newsweek. Right. Like that changes the facts. The world of poetry is awash with mediocrity.
