The Fall

I’ve podcast “The Fall,” another sonnet from Sonneteer, the second section of Other Voices, and on the left I’ve added a link under Me & Mine to the podcast home page.

I find I’m seldom doing more than one take on the poems themselves, but I rewrite their brief introductions a dozen times and record each version 3 or 4 times.  Is it worth the time and trouble? Does it add anything to the reading of the poem? If it does, is that a problem? Shouldn’t they have to stand on their own?

Of course, on the page (whether paper or electronic) they don’t stand on their own: they’re surrounded by other poems in a chosen order, and the reader can go back and forth in the text of each or go to another book or web page, or ask someone else a question about the poem.

What do you think?
